John Mayer, Speed Summary & Speed Graphs - "Stop This Train" - meanemotion=enthusiasm , average standard tempo=89.5 bpm

John Mayer's song about aging and the changing of the generations acknowledging old age and death is the finest he has ever written. To hold it at this speed - where he is showing that he has confidence and enthusiasm about his future, and at the same time holds a very heavy heart seeing his parents get suddenly older and realizing he is "one generation away," is a mature accomplishment in music. I think John and his music will be around and successful for decades to come.

Similar to the way in which the song "The Space Between" by the Dave Matthews Band represents the border of emotion between loneliness (79-84 bpm) and renewal (85-90) with a song at a means speed of 85.o bpm, the song "Stop This Train" by John Mayer represents to the border of emotion between renewal and enthusiasm (songs between 90-97 bpm) with the song at the mean speed of 89.5 bpm.

Both songs are played withe the aid of electronic device, and thus in both recordings here is neither acceleration nor deceleration of the underlying beat either anywhere in the song nor as a trend from beginning to end. On top of the underlying beat, the rhythm moves are, as does the melody, bass, drums, guitars, percussion, voice and keyboards - if not the entire "live in the studio" line above would be as straight as the meanspeed line itself.
